One of the first memories that came to mind is before you were even born. Your Mom and Dad had sent me pregnancy pictures. I knew the love that they had shown each other for years was just going to expand and grow even stronger upon your arrival – you could just tell by the glow and smiles on both of their faces. Then I got to meet you in person at 11 months old. I will never forget your white blond hair and bright blue eyes. Even then your intelligence and curiosity for life was apparent.
Another was visiting with the family in New Mexico and watching your eyes light up when you shared your love of maps as well as NASCAR with me. I also got to share your love of the outdoors by hiking with you and your family. I also got to experience one of the most loving family units. It wasn’t just the love of parents to a child, it was also the love shown between you and Aidan at such a young age that made you closer than any brother and sister I have ever witnessed.
One memory I have been able to treasure on a daily basis ever since I joined Facebook. My profile picture is one taken of me and James when you and the family came to visit and we all went to Kerry Park. While many friends have asked why I don’t show a more current picture for my profile, they don’t see all that I see when looking at it daily. Yes I see the picture of me and my husband with Seattle in the background but I also see you and Aidan climbing on and inside of the sculpture, I see your parents, I hear the laughter and feel the love that we all were able to share that day. It has brought me daily joy and will continue to do so.
I am so thankful and honored that I was allowed to be a part of your life and have so many wonderful memories of you Austin – these are just a sweet few shared from so many that I can draw strength and joy.
You will be missed and forever loved.
