Sadly we never had the pleasure of meeting Austen.
Jo our daughter was Austen’s nanny.
We can remember, as concerned parents, an international telephone conversation with Austen’s parents Laurie and Gregg.
Laurie informed us that she wanted Jo to be a not just nanny but to become a member of the family.
What a lovely thing to say!!
Gregg,Laurie,Austen and Aidan became as Jo would call them “ My Chicago Family” and received much love, support and guidance during her several years in that vibrant city.

The wonderful tributes shared by all who knew Austen come as no surprise to us.
Jo would relate many incredible stories about this wonderful, loving intelligent boy, who later matured into the caring young man that had such an impact on not only the people that were privileged to have known him, but also on those of us that had heard all about him.
Regrettably the proposed family trip to visit us in the UK did not materialize but we take comfort in the fact that Jo and her” Chicago Family” kept in close contact over the subsequent years.
Fond memories of Austen will live with us all forever

R.I.P young man.
