Though brief, I had the pleasure of spending freshman year as part of Shorey House with Austin. He was an individual I will never forget. Despite the nervousness undoubtedly in all our minds when meeting new people, when the dust finally settled, we found ourselves merrily getting along together, going out to campus events, eating downstairs, going downtown....Austin was an individual that slowly revealed more shades of personality as you got to know him. Through mere conversation, you can quickly discern intelligence and insightfulness within individuals, and Austin was certainly in possession of both. Though it's been a while since first year, every fall I'd return to Chicago and make the rounds; I'd always pass by Austin's room, just as I'd passed it many times before, hoping to be fortunate enough to be graced by his presence. Austin, I'll be back again, I promise.
