We were lucky in that after 1st year we always shared the last class before lunch at least once a week. We almost always sat next to each other along with Marie, especially in our chemistry lectures. I was always amazed by how small Austin's notes were--whereas I would take up an entire section in my notebook, he fit an entire quarter of Honors Organic Chemistry onto one sheet of paper, and told me he was disappointed that he wasn't able to fit it all onto one side of the page. I never borrowed his notes, but sometimes I would ask him for clarification on a homework problem or a point in lecture and he would readily explain it as best he could. Often towards the end of the quarter my strongest incentive to go to class was being able to sit with him and Marie. Learning chem was just easier and more fun when it was a shared experience with him.
